Kiah Stokes, Morgan Paige and Jade Rogers and high-level Division-I players, one and all.

Gazette columnist Mike Hlas was at Tipton for the Class 4A regional final girls’ basketball game between Linn-Mar and Bettendorf on Tuesday.
He was there to see college coaches, including Pat Summitt of Tennessee and Sherri Coale of Oklahoma, on hand to watch Linn-Mar’s Kiah Stokes in action.

CEDAR RAPIDS — This was a tale of two halves.

Fifth-ranked Cedar Rapids Kennedy opened the game with a 10-0 run, started the second half with a 10-1 surge, and rolled past No. 9 Cedar Rapids Washington, 62-43, in a Class 4A girls’ basketball regional final Tuesday night at Prairie High School.
State semifinalists a year ago, the Cougars (20-2) return to Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines at 11:30 a.m. next Wednesday, when they face No. 4 Ankeny (21-2).
