Senior night sweep for C.C. softball

Charles City’s offense needed some time to finally warm up during Tuesday’s Northeast Iowa Conference doubleheader with Oelwein. The Comet pitching and defense kept the hometown nine in both games long enough for the offense to score timely runs as Charles City earned a sweep on senior night at Sportsmen’s Park. Golf postseason hits stride today

Prep golfers hit the course for Iowa High School Athletic Association championship meets today as 35 sectional meets in all three classes across the state. Decorah senior Andrew Peter will look to defend his individual state title, and help lead the Vikings back to the Class 3A state meet. The Vikings, who placed fourth at state last season, travel to Charles City for a sectional with Clear Lake, Crestwood, Forest City, Hampton-Dumont, Iowa Falls-Alden and New Hampton. Denver-Tripoli rolls to 2A sectional crown

DYERSVILLE — The celebratory meals and the congratulatory pats on the back will have to wait, because the Denver-Tripoli wrestling team wasn’t wasting any time to get back to work. The Titans had practice scheduled just hours after they powered their way to a team title in what was considered one of the tougher sectional fields. Area runners earn IATC ranking

Oelwein’s Anna Benneke earned the top spot in the Class 3A girls cross country individual rankings released by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches on Monday. She is joined in the top five of 3A by Benton Community’s Madison Weekley, who is third. Iowa City West’s Frank Canady and Iowa City High’s Chris Robertson are third and fifth, respectively, in the boys’ 4A rankings.
