The Waterloo West Wahawks promised to be a bigger and bulkier football squad this season. Alas, all that might didn't translate into a win on opening night. Trojans sweep Wahlert

A pair of strong pitching performances propelled the Waterloo East softball squad to a sweep of Dubuque Wahlert Tuesday as the Trojans won, 4-1 and 8-0. Alyson Netty and Kesley Rash both fired complete-game two-hitters for East. Solid hitting was also East's ally on this evening. Xavier beats Wahlert in 2A title game, 2-0

You can’t stop Isaac Frisch. You can only hope to contain him. Dubuque Wahlert hasn’t even been able to do that in this Class 2A state soccer tournament championship game at Cownie Park in Des Moines. All-Mississippi Valley Conference boys’ hoops team

Here it is. Chris Robertson of Linn-Mar and Bob Fontana of Cedar Rapids Kennedy are the division coaches of the year. Cedar Rapids Jefferson's Jarrod Uthoff and TrayVonn Wright of Waterloo West were players of the year. Striking how much better the Valley Division was this season than the Mississippi Division. Three MVC are at the state tournament next week, all from the Valley Division.

Wahlert ends Marion’s oustanding season, 59-50

To heck with the Mississippi Valley Conference. Forgive the Marion Indians if they choose a word that’s stronger then “heck” in this case. They lost four basketball games this season, and three of them were to MVC teams.
