All-Mississippi Valley Conference boys’ hoops team
Here it is. Chris Robertson of Linn-Mar and Bob Fontana of Cedar Rapids Kennedy are the division coaches of the year. Cedar Rapids Jefferson's Jarrod Uthoff and TrayVonn Wright of Waterloo West were players of the year. Striking how much better the Valley Division was this season than the Mississippi Division. Three MVC are at the state tournament next week, all from the Valley Division.
Wahlert ends Marion’s oustanding season, 59-50
To heck with the Mississippi Valley Conference. Forgive the Marion Indians if they choose a word that’s stronger then “heck” in this case. They lost four basketball games this season, and three of them were to MVC teams. DYERSVILLE — The celebratory meals and the congratulatory pats on the back will have to wait, because the Denver-Tripoli wrestling team wasn’t wasting any time to get back to work. DUBUQUE — Iowa City West Coach Mark Reiland said it was one of those days. A satisfactory effort, but nothing spectacular from his Trojans. It's no surprise that the top three include Waverly-Shell Rock, Iowa City West and Bettendorf. West and Waverly are flipped based on West's victory over the Go-Hawks at the Five Seasons Duals in December.
