Weather pushes back most regional duals

Mother nature has caused a hiccup in the posteason season wrestling schedule. All but one regional dual across the state are postponed until tomorrow evening. The Class 2A regional dual event at Winterset, featuring  Centerville, Harlan, Creston/orient-Macksburg and Clarke (Osceola) is the only one that will be competed. The Predicament’s January Class 2A rankings

The top six teams in the rankings have a number of wrestlers on the list. All of them have at least five wrestlers ranked. Defending state champion Ballard still leads the way with Denver-Tripoli and Davenport Assumption close behind. MFL MarMac and Elkader Central a good match

MONONA — This season’s poster says it all: “Joining Forces.” The MFL MarMac and Elkader Central wrestling teams consolidated programs and it seems to be a good merger. The Bulldogs take a 2-0 dual record into tonight’s triangular with West Delaware and Solon at Manchester. MFL MarMac has been successful the last decade, winning five straight Upper Iowa Conference titles and six of the last seven. A thumbnail sketch on the Class 1A girls' race at the state cross country meet Saturday at Lakeside Golf Course, Fort Dodge. Time: 2 p.m. Individual race: It looks like a duel between Audrey Griffin of Clinton Prince of Peace and Katy Moen of Wapsie Valley, who finished 2-3 in the 1A race last year. Substate football situation, Week 9

So here's where we're at as we head to Week 9: CLASS 4A EAST Twelve of 16 berths have been determined, including two league champions. Iowa City High (8-0) has clinched the MVC Mississippi Division title while Clinton (8-0) is the Mississippi Athletic Conference champion. Linn-Mar (7-1) can win the MVC Valley Division crown if it defeats Iowa City West.
