The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released its latest installment of the swim Power Rankings Friday. There hasn’t been much movement by local teams.
Bettendorf still holds the top spot, while Cedar Falls, which won the MVC Super Meet on Saturday at Loras College in Dubuque, is still third. Decorah, Iowa City West and Cedar Rapids Kennedy still hold their spots at seventh, eighth and ninth. Kennedy placed second at the MVC conference meet, one spot in front of West.

The Cedar Rapids/Marion Metro Class 4A coaches have voted and released the members of the 2009 All-Metro boys’ golf team.
It’s no surprise the first team is dominated by Cedar Rapids Kennedy with three selections. The Cougars were the top-ranked seen for most of the season and finished fourth at the state meet Friday and Saturday at Davenport Country Club. The Cougars’ Dane Worley was the top individual finisher, tying for third with 149. He’s joined on the first-team by senior teammates Connor Steele and Isaac Brown.

Iowa City West is off to a strong start, posting a 6-0 record with a 5-0 mark in the Mississippi Valley Conference.
The Women of Troy hold seventh place in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Power Rankings with 1,271 points based off a 107½-78½ win over Kennedy.
West, which trails Decorah by just six points for sixth as the top area team, is led by seniors Grace Murray and Megan Hingtgen, junior Sarah Weihe, Kathleen Bowman, a sophomore and freshman Savannah Butler.

CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids Kennedy’s school colors are green and gold, but a change would be in order for its boys’ golf team.
Red is more fitting for the Cougar golfers, especially when it comes to their score cards.
Kennedy posted five scores under par and dominated the field with a score of 277 to win its second straight CRANDIC team title Tuesday at Twin Pines. Cougar senior Connor Steele earned medalist honors with an impressive 4-under-par 68.

DES MOINES — The improbable journey continues.
Unranked and relatively unknown, the Cascade Cougars slew another giant Thursday afternoon, knocking off No. 6 Hinton, 56-43, in a Class 2A semifinal at the girls’ state basketball tournament at Wells Fargo Arena.
“Before the season, I don’t think people in our community could name anybody on this team unless they were related,” said Cascade Coach Mike Sconsa. “I knew we could be solid, but I didn’t think we’d be at this level.”
