DECORAH 24, MAQUOKETA 0 – Lucas Kane passed for two touchdowns and rushed for another as Decorah blanked Maquoketa, 24-0, in a Clss 3A prep football substate game last night in Decorah. Kane connected with Chris Wanless for a 52-yard touchdown and Zack Kerndt from 3 yards out in the second quarter and rushed 32 yards for the final score in the fourth.

SOLON 48, MEDIAPOLIS 12 — Solon began it’s quest for a third straight state title Wednesday with a home game against Mediapolis.
The Spartans win their 37th game straight with the blowout. James Morris rushed for 212 yards on 14 carries and scored two touchdowns for the top-ranked Class 2A Spartans.
Morris scored on runs of 56 and 31 yards, Wes Sleeper added a 1-yard touchdown run while Brian Jedlicka added an 8-yard touchdown run for Solon (10-0), which will play Mid-Prairie on Monday.

The Springville Orioles underwent a preventive quarantine Saturday night.
There was illness going around, and Coach Brian O’Donnell wanted his girls’ basketball players at home, isolated from the bug.
“We’re so close,” he said. “We’ve avoided illness so far. What’s one night out when you weigh it against a lifetime of memories?”
The Orioles already have provided scrapbook moments galore. They are defending Class 1A state champions. They have an opportunity to do so much more.
