IOWA CITY — Mother nature showed her nasty side Tuesday.
Chilly temperatures, a little rain and a persistent wind that gusted to nearly 40 miles an hour tested prep golfers.

Kennedy scored 319, 10 points more than runner-up Linn-Mar.
Conditions worsened as the day progressed.

Linn-Mar has produced some strong performances early, but shows an even greater potential for a run in the last part of the season.
Linn-Mar Coach Steve Kahler said his team has battled inconsistency at times, but shows a capability for big accomplishments if their games become more complete.
“I think we’re barely touching the surface,” said Kahler, comparing his team to the 2007 Lions who placed third at state. “From a coaching standing point, I can see …

CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids Kennedy’s school colors are green and gold, but a change would be in order for its boys’ golf team.
Red is more fitting for the Cougar golfers, especially when it comes to their score cards.
Kennedy posted five scores under par and dominated the field with a score of 277 to win its second straight CRANDIC team title Tuesday at Twin Pines. Cougar senior Connor Steele earned medalist honors with an impressive 4-under-par 68.

Jack Baker isn’t perfect, but he has achieved perfection. Nine times to be exact.
Baker has scored nine holes-in-one during the more than 40 years he’s been golfing. He has a reasonable approach to the astounding feat.
