Cedar Rapids Washington basketball players were hard at it Monday morning, doing various shooting, passing, rebounding and defensive drills. Two huge fans blew in open doorways, though it didn’t seem to make the Warrior gym much cooler.
Despite just getting back from six straight days on the road with their AAU team, Josh Oglesby and Wes Washpun were sweating it out with the rest of their teammates. You’ve got to work hard to be a Division I college player, and that’s what these two will likely end up being.
Six-foot-1 guard …

Call it the great pinch hit that shouldn’t have been. Well, maybe.
Whether you think Ryan Raaf struck out in the sixth inning of last night’s prep baseball doubleheader opener at Cedar Rapids Kennedy is up to you. The Iowa City West senior swung at a two-strike pitch that sounded as if it hit something before squirting away from Kennedy catcher Sam Hunter.
Was it Raff’s bat, then Hunter’s gear? If so, that’s a foul ball. That’s what the home plate umpire ruled.
But Raaf said he never …

The school announced Tuesday that James Moses is its new head varsity coach. He replaces Paul Schenkelberg, who stepped down last month.
“Very excited,” said Prairie Athletics Director Rocky Bennett. “The bottom line is we …
