Thursday night’s prep football playoff semifinals (capsules)

Solon (11-1) vs. Washington (11-1)

Rankings: Washington is No. 9
Notable:These teams have won 10 games in a row after losing in Week 2 of the regular season. Washington avenged its 14-0 loss to Pella with a 28-0 quarterfinal victory last Friday. Solon, which lost to Class 1A semifinalist Iowa City Regina, 38-0, ended Decorah’s reign as 3A champ with a 28-20 quarterfinal victory. Quarterback Jacob Black had 130 yards passing and 115 rushing, accounting for all four of his team’s touchdowns. He has a whopping 2,428 yards rushing and passing this season and 39 TDs. Washington’s similar spread offense is keyed by QB Daryn Seibelius and running back Alex Coker. Seibelius has thrown for 836 yards and rushed for 745. Coker has rushed for 1,428 yards and 25 TDs. Washington averages 42.3 points and Solon 38.6. These appear to be evenly matched clubs.
