Former Hawkeye Horner in 2014 IHSAA hoops hall of fame class

West Des Moines Valley head coach Jeff Horner is among seven people that will be inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association’s Basketball Hall of Fame this year. Induction ceremonies will be March 15, during the state tournament.

Horner, of course, won a state championship as a player at Mason City and went on to a fine collegiate career at the University of Iowa. He played professionally briefly before going into coaching.

Others in the 2014 Hall of Fame class are coaches Bob Haak (Spencer) and Steve Blazek (Atlantic) and players Mark West (Southeast Polk), Lloyd Thornburg (Pleasantville), Jeff Donaldson (Sioux City North) and Robbie Sieverding (Bellevue Marquette). Sieverding played college ball at Northern Iowa.
