Area Roundup: Wilton, West Delaware win

The son got the better of dad last night at West Branch.

Koy Snider rushed for 142 yards and scored four touchdowns and Tyler Hetzler passed for 180 and four TDs as Lance Pedersen’s Wilton Beavers dumped Butch Pedersen’s West Branch Bears, 42-28, in a Class 1A-6 high school football game.

Snider scored two rushing TDs and also had 76 receiving yards and two scores.

Mike Gould rushed for 128 yards for West Branch (2-2, 0-2) and scored three TDs, including a 3-yard run that put the Bears up 7-6 in the first quarter.

Wilton (4-0, 2-0) scored two touchdowns in the second quarter after two West Branch turnovers, including a 21-yard pass from Hetzler to Snider at the buzzer.

WEST DELAWARE 55, INDEPENDENCE 13 — The Hawks (4-0) went to the air to dump Independence in Manchester.

Brent Lammers completed 10 of 15 passes for 221 yards and four touchdowns. Deandre Daniels scored the first, on a 76-yarder on the first play of the game. Mitch Demmer (20 yards), Timmy Tutton (42) and Nathan Wegmann (11) also scored on Lammers passes.

Coy Roussell added 92 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, all in the first half. Linebacker Ryan Solomon also scored for West Delaware, on a 35-yard interception return.

DECORAH 49, CHARLES CITY 8 — Jake Hovden scored two touchdowns, including a 44-yard punt return, as the Vikings remained unbeaten with a road win.

Mikhail Suvorov rushed for 66 yards and Holt Johansen added 62 as Decorah outgained the Comets, 242-101.

MAQUOKETA 59, ANAMOSA 6 — Jacob Kloft scored four touchdowns and Trent Bollman passed for two as the Cardinals rolled at home.

Kloft rushed for 121 yards on nine carries and scored three TDs. He added a 65-yard punt return for his fourth TD.

Bollman completed 4 of 5 passes for 173 yards, including an 89-yard TD pass to Cohl Kueter in the first quarter.

Randy Von Behren scored the Raiders’ only TD on a 1-yard run and finished with 61 yards on 14 carries.

MONTICELLO 22, MOUNT VERNON 18 — Peyton Paddock intercepted a Mount Vernon pass and returned it 55 yards for a touchdown with 6:43 left as the Panthers held on for a win at home.

The Panthers (1-1, 2-2) forced six Mount Vernon turnovers, including five in the second half.

Monticello’s Tanner Felton rushed for 101 yards in a defensive struggle that saw Mount Vernon outgain Monticello, 206-111.

Trey Ryan led the Mustangs (1-1, 2-2) with 49 yards on 11 carries and also returned a Monticello fumble 52 yards for a touchdown that put Mount Vernon ahead 18-15 with 11:39 left.

NORTH BUTLER 42, EAST BUCHANAN 8 — Cody Nelson rushed for 160 yards and three touchdowns as the Bearcats (1-3) won at East Buchanan.

Kyle Decker scored a touchdown for the Buccaneers (1-3) on a fumble recovery.

TURKEY VALLEY 14, STARMONT 6 — Luke Keunnen ran for 107 yards and scored two touchdowns on 20 carries to lead Turkey Valley past Starmont.

Jake Butler rushed for 160 yards and scored the touchdown for Starmont.

HLV 48, TRI-COUNTY 8 – Nate VanBuren rushed for 172 yards on 17 carries and scored two touchdowns and Dalton Kriegel completed 10 of 19 passes for 125 yards for HLV at Victor.

 

NORTH CEDAR 35, DURANT 6 – Jayden Johnson completed 20 of 30 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns as North Cedar (4-0) won at Durant (0-4).


Jacob Hay caught four passes for 60 yards and two touchdowns and running back Derrick Gray rushed for 132 yards and three touchdowns for the Knights.
