I.C. West’s Bonner is named state baseball player of year

Iowa City West infielder Reid Bonner has been honored by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association as the state’s prep player of the year, it has been announced.

Bonner hit .410 in 134 at-bats for a West team ranked in the top five in Class 4A all season. He had five home runs and 45 RBIs, walking more times (22) than striking out (20).

He also stole 29 bases.

Other members of the IHSBCA “Super Team” include Dyersville Beckman pitcher Joey Lehmann, who went undefeated this season in helping the Blazers win their second-straight Class 2A state title.
