Lombardi hearing set for late September

CEDAR RAPIDS – Former Cedar Rapids Washington football and baseball coach Tony Lombardi faces a late September hearing in front of an administrative law judge after officially being charged by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners of four counts of misconduct.

Lombardi faces a possible revocation of his teaching license. A formal complaint to the IBOEE by former Washington parent Kathi Jensen in 2012 resulted in an investigation that has led to the charges and hearing.

Lombardi resigned from his football coaching position in the spring and stepped down as baseball coach at the conclusion of this past season.

Here are official documents about the hearing, as provided by Jensen:

  1. I am wondering, and want to ask a question to Kathy Jensen and the other parents on board with her? Has this become a vendeta (?) againstagainst this man? We are spending tax dollars for it. Couldnt we be spending this money for other things? What is being done now is WRONG! Has Wash ever had a coach tht has done worse, like physically put there hands on a child? If you know the answer then go back and see wht happened to them, see if continued to teach and coach at our school. If tht was handled in a manner that wasnt taken this far,why now ask yourself tht before you answer.

  2. The person not named is still upstanding man in our school because the parents back then handled the situation a whole different way then taking his job and running him and his family out of the community that they had grown to love. Thats all I am saying.

  3. Why did this make it to the state level? Why didn’t some of that high priced multi-level administration handle this locally A YEAR ago? Did no one at the ELSC (Extra Luxurious Superintendent’s Clubhouse) have time to manage this?
