Boys’ basketball roundup: Jefferson whips Ottumwa

Jacob Olson scored a team-high 28 points and Ky Kramer had a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double as Cedar Rapids Jefferson whipped Ottumwa, 79-57, last night in a Class 4A substate game in Cedar Rapids.

Creighton Robinson added 11 points and three assists and Layne Sullivan had 10 points for the J-Hawks (12-10).

Carter Burns led all scorers with 33 points for Ottumwa (2-20).

Jefferson will play at Burlington (8-14) in a substate semifinal Friday at 7 p.m.

LINN-MAR 65, DUBUQUE HEMPSTEAD 49 - The Lions (13-9) outscored Hempstead 20-7 in the first quarter and never looked back in a Class 4A substate first round win at home.

Jordan Bohannon led all scorers with 20 points and Nic Uhlir chipped in 10. Derik Gogg finished with a double-double (15 points and 10 rebounds) and also led the team with three assists.

The Mustangs (4-18) were led by Jake Weber and Josh Dolson with 10 points apiece.

Linn-Mar will play at Pleasant Valley Friday night in a substate semifinal.

MARION 51, CENTER POINT-URBANA 43 – Marion used 15 points from Isaac Frazier and 12 from Brenden Landuyt to overcome a 5-point halftime deficit and power past the Stormin’ Pointers in a 3A District 7 semifinal matchup at Center Point.

The Indians (11-11) will face Anamosa (14-8) Thursday night at Cedar Rapids Kennedy.

CPU was led by Josh Jirak’s 24 points and ends the season with a 13-9 record.

C.R. XAVIER 73, CLINTON 38 — Adam McDermott scored a game-high 21 points to lead Xavier in a Class 4A substate first round game at Cedar Rapids.

Matt Nelson added 16 points, while Trey Sampson chipped in 15 for the Saints (11-11).

Jalen Jones paced Clinton (7-14) with 19 points.

Xavier will play at Class 4A fourth-ranked Dubuque Senior (20-1) this Friday at 7 p.m. in a substate semifinal matchup.
