West Marshall places seventh
West Marshall’s state tournament experience ended a little more enjoyably than it started.
The Trojans faced controversy to start when a photo was posted to an online Twitter account, showing a derogatory message written on the arms of some of their wrestlers that was directed at regional dual opponent Don Bosco. The Iowa High School Athletic Association allowed both schools to handle the discipline, which included community service, according to radio reports.
West Marshall (23-9) made its State Duals debut, winning its final dual with a 47-36 victory over Audubon for seventh place. Alburnett beat West Marshall, 52-27, in the quarterfinals. Sumner-Fredericksburg, which placed fifth in its first State Duals appearance, beat the Trojans, 45-28 in the consolation round.
