Jefferson seeking volleyball coach

CEDAR RAPIDS — Kelly Phelan has resigned as volleyball coach at Cedar Rapids Jefferson.

The school released the announcement Thursday, saying Phelan reported family reasons for her decision.

Phelan coached at Jefferson 12 years. She will continue her work as a PE teacher at the school.

Jefferson Athletics Director Chris Deam said a search for a new coach will begin immediately.

The J-Hawks were 4-33 last season.

“Jefferson will seek a candidate with the experience and drive to build a top program in the MVC,” he said.
