Vinton-Shellsburg shells Marion

VINTON-SHELLSBURG 70, MARION 48

Grant Sagan poured in 32 points to lead Class 3A top-ranked Vinton (15-0, 10-0) to a Wamac win at home.

Marion cut the lead to four points with six minutes to go in the third quarter, but that’s as close as the Indians would get. Vinton ended the quarter with a 18-3 run.

Max Griffith added 10 points for the Vikings. Craig Engle scored 10 points and made two 3-pointers for Marion (7-7. 5-4).

LINN-MAR 53, WATERLOO WEST 52

Jon Schlotterback scored 17 points and Nic Uhlir chipped in nine as Linn-Mar toppled Waterloo West, 54-52, in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys’ basketball game Tuesday night in Marion.

The Lions improved to 6-7 overall, 5-4 in the MVC.

West dropped to 7-6, 4-4.

I.C. REGINA 64, TIPTON 48

Regina’s Drew Cook made 9 of 11 field goals and led all scorers with 22 points at Tipton.

The Regalsimproved to 7-7 overall, 5-5 in the Cedar Valley Conference.

DUBUQUE SENIOR 54, C.R. JEFFERSON 38

Kyle Haber led all scorers with 23 points to lead Class 4A third-ranked Senior to an MVC win in Cedar Rapids.

Josh Weeber added 13 points for the Rams (12-1, 8-1 MVC).

Jacob Olson scored 13 points to go along with three assists and three steals for Jefferson (7-7, 4-5).

DUBUQUE WAHLERT 54, C.R. WASHINGTON 52

Domen Zevnik scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Golden Eagles(4-8, 4-5 MVC) past the Warriors in Dubuque.

Austin Bergstrom paced the Warriors (1-13, 1-8) with 14 points.
