A combination of turnovers and missed shots, including some right under the basket, left Waterloo East with just three points Tuesday night in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls’ basketball game at Cedar Rapids Kennedy.
Kennedy, on the other hand, scored early and often for a 72-3 victory. The Cougars (8-4, 5-2) led 27-0 after a quarter and 49-3 at halftime.
Paige Hendrickson topped Kennedy scorers with 15 points. Also scoring in double figures were Jordan Holmes with 13, Madison Meier 11 and Stephanie Botkin 10.
East dropped to 1-12 overall and 0-8 in league play.
IOWA CITY WEST 42, BETTENDORF 40
Ally Disterhoft scored a game-high 24 points and Iowa City West (10-3) held off a late Bettendorf charge at Bettendorf.
Liz Finn made three 3-pointers en route to a team-high 17 for Bettendorf (6-7).
C.R. JEFFERSON 74, DAVENPORT CENTRAL 43
Kaitlyn Davison scored 17 points for host Jefferson (5-9).Dani Stromert added 14 points, and Amanda Ollinger had 10 rebounds.
