WILLIAMSBURG — Paige Greiner sees what Jennie Baranczyk sees.

Better days ahead for the Drake University women’s basketball program.

A 5-foot-5 junior point guard from Williamsburg High School, Greiner said Monday that she has committed to play for Baranczyk and the Bulldogs, starting with the 2014-15 season.

“I believe in Coach’s vision for Drake,” Greiner said. “We are very close, and I am very happy to be a future player for her.

“I feel comfortable with the school, and I love the Missouri Valley Conference.”

Greiner averages 15.9 points, 4.9 assists and 3.6 steals per game for Williamsburg, which takes a 10-4 record into Tuesday’s game against Waterloo Columbus. She shoots 53 percent from the field (including 37 percent from long distance) and is among the state’s most accurate free throw shooters at 89 percent.

Drake is 5-10 this season and does not have an Iowan on its roster. A former Iowa Hawkeye, Baranczyk is in her first year as the head coach.
