Baseball America lists Washington’s Puk as 18th-best senior in country

Cedar Rapids Washington pitcher-first baseman A.J. Puk has been named among the top 25 prep baseball seniors in the country, in a list compiled recently by Baseball America magazine.

Puk is No. 18, according to BA. The left-hander will officially sign a letter of intent Wednesday to the University of Florida.

“A.J. Puk is a left-hander and first baseman from Washington High in Cedar Rapids, Iowa – a state that has never produced a first-round high-school pick,” Baseball America wrote. “He has impressive physicality and has stood out on the mound for the past couple years. He’s now drawing some interest as a legitimate two-way player, but he’ll be a tough look for scouts this spring as Iowa high schools don’t play baseball in the spring.”

Baseball America has named Austin Meadows, an outfielder from Georgia, the nation’s top prep going into the winter.
