GUTTENBERG – As a player riding the bus to our Oct. 23 regional volleyball match at Ed-Co, I knew everybody was pumped and ready to take care of business.

When the game started, the Eagles were in it to win it, as were the Vikings.

Getting ready for a volley.

There were some excruciating sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat kind of volleys. But at the end of the first match, the score was 25-18 in favor of the Vikings.

It didnʼt get any better after that.

The second match was 25-14. The last match was a little bit better, but not much with a score of 25-16 in favor of the Vikings.

Waiting for the action.

The Clayton Ridge Eagles played well, but not as well as the Ed-Co Vikings. The Eagles tried hard in the beginning, but then  gradually lost their mo-jo. The Vikings just had great hitters who knew where to hit it to and to whom.

the Eagles have improved a lot from last year. Hopefully there are more successful years to come.
