HIGH SCHOOL JOURNALISM: Benton rings bell after topping Anamosa

VAN HORNE – Benton Community earned its first win of the season last Friday, taking down the Anamosa Raiders, 35-28.

The Bobcats attacked the line from the very beginning

Senior Jake Petersen pushed the ball over the goal line, scoring two touchdowns for the Bobcats. Ben Twedt, Noah Fisher and Matt Gessner also scored, which kept the Bobcats going strong.

Benton had 410 rushing yards with 69 rushing attempts.

Quintin Taylor carried on the team’s defensive effort with eight tackles. Matt Gessner followed with seven.

Benton hosts Marion on Friday.
