DELHI – The Wildcats remained undefeated with a win over Jesup, playing hard in a 31-6 homecoming win.
“We got off to a sluggish start,” Coach Wes Wilson said. “We did a nice job of coming back in the second quarter to get things going and put the ball in the endzone.”
Some nice decisions were made by Ben Dzaboff, who threw the ball well. Carter Funke had three of the four interceptions in the game. Aaron Dzaboff had the other, which he returned for a touchdown. Other scorers were Ben Dzaboff, Jobe Ellison and Funke. Ben Dzaboff and Funke both had six rushing points, along with three field goals and four PATs by Funke.
Leading tacklers included Tanner Hargrafen with 11, and Carter with 12 tackles. Jeremy Bacon and Steve Huber added eight a piece.
Some injured players would return tonight.
“We could really use the depth going into the grind of our district schedule,” Wilson said.
The ‘Cats travel to Alburnett tonight.
In JV action, the ‘Cats defeated Jesup Friday night but suffered a loss against CP-U Monday night.
