AD: MFL MarMac plans to continue

MONONA — A meeting is scheduled for tonight at MFL MarMac High School to discuss player safety, but Athletics Director Jason Halverson does not anticipate canceling the rest of the football season.

“The rumors swell when player safety is a concern, but the plan is to continue,” Halverson said Tuesday morning.

The Bulldogs (1-3 overall, 0-2 Class 1A District 4) have been stung by a string of concussions — eight in all. Five players that have suffered concussions are believed to be out for the season, said Halverson, who said the program has 31 healthy players available.

“We’re going to talk more about what we can do to keep players safe, whether it’s the helmets or whatever,” he said.
