Justis steps down at Linn-Mar

MARION — Rob Justis said he takes “no regrets and lots of great memories” as he leaves his post as Linn-Mar High School volleyball coach.

“I had a blast,” he said Tuesday evening, a few hours after he turned in his resignation.

Justis was the head coach for five seasons, taking the Lions to state twice — in 2009 and 2010. He had not coached since the Lions were eliminated in the quarterfinals at the Warrior Invitational on Sept. 1 at Cedar Rapids Washington.

Linn-Mar Athletics Director Scott Mahmens would not comment on the resignation, saying only that Justis did not made the trip with the team Tuesday to Cedar Falls.

Justis cited “philosophical coaching differences” as the reason for his decision. He also resigned as sophomore girls’ basketball coach.

“I wouldn’t close the book” on coaching again, he said. “I might try to learn how to golf. I haven’t had much time off forĀ a while.”
