Alex Dunn
Linn-Mar
Swimming
Alex is a senior on the Linn-Mar swim team. Last weekend she helped lead the Lions to a state title in the 200 free relay in a time of 1:38.60. Dunn anchored home the win. The team finished 8th overall. Alex also competed at state in the 50 and 100 free. She finished 14th in the 50, and 19th in the 100 free.
Jackie Hughes
CR Washington
Swimming
Jackie is a sophomore on the Warrior Swim team. Saturday she finished 2nd in the 500 freestyle at state, with a time of 5:08.97. She also finished 14th in the 100 Breaststroke. She accounted for all 20 points on the team.
Hughes was also the regional champ in the 500. At state she bettered her time by 7 seconds. She couldn’t even swim on varsity as a freshman because she open enrolled at Wash, so she dominated JV as a frosh last year. Coach says she wishes she had a team full of Jackie’s. Incredibly hard worker and earns everything she’s gotten.
Lilian Zhu
Iowa City West
Swimming
Lilian is a soph for the West swim team. At state she finished 3rd in the 100 butterfly (58.24), 5th in the 200 free (1:55.32). She was also part of the 200 medley relay team which finished 5th, and the 400 free relay team that finished 6th. The women of Troy finished 6th overall as a team, but only lose one senior next year. Lilian was also a regional champ in both the 200 free and 100 butterfly.
