Iowa Girls and Boys Cross Country Making a Name Nationally

Former Iowa Prep Katie Flood (Dowling) and former Xavier Prep Meaghan Nelson scored big for their teams in conference races.  Flood (Soph. Washington) won the first ever Pac 12 title upsetting one of the top runners in the country in Jordan Hasay of Oregon. Flood ran the second fastest time in conference history winning in 19:32 (6k) . Katie beat Hasay by 18 seconds.  Former Iowa Prep Shelby Houlihan(Fr. Arizona State)  finished 8th in the Pac 12 race.

Former Xavier standout  Meaghan Nelson finished second at the Big 12 championships with a time of 19:33. Nelson finished just three seconds behind the winner Caroline Jepleting of Texas Tech.  Nelson helped lead the Iowa State team to the Big 12 Conference title. The Clones scored 68 points and beat Texas by 15 points.

The Dowling girls are ranked 22nd in the ESPN Rise Gatorade FAB 50.  The Linn-Mar girls cracked the national rankings for the first time at 50th.

The Dowling boys are ranked 13th in the ESPN Rise Gatorade FAB 50. The Cedar Falls boys are ranked 44th in the country.
