The Mississippi Valley Conference will have a new structure for the 2011 girls swim season. The conference has 14 members, but will have just 12 girls swim programs this fall. Cedar Rapids Xavier has ended its program and Cedar Rapids Prairie, formerly partnering with Williamsburg, will join Cedar Rapids Jefferson.
Swimmers for Prairie and Jefferson will compete as Jefferson, according to MVC officials. Former Xavier swimmers will now compete for Cedar Rapids public high schools closest to the swimmer’s residence. The Saints top performer from last season, junior Mckenzie Asplund, who won two regional titles in 2010, will compete for Cedar Rapids Washington.
