Iowa City High picked up its first win of the season last night, edging Cedar Rapids Prairie, 51-45, last night at City High.
The Little Hawks (1-14, 1-10 MVC) were led by Andrew McNulty, who scored 15 points and Cortez Barfield with 15 points and eight rebounds.
Prairie (3-13, 2-9 MVC) was led by Brandon Lafferty with 13 points and Matt MacDougall with 11.
MARION 68, WATERLOO COLUMBUS 37 — Kasey Semler had 25 points and Dusty Albaugh added 14 at Marion rolled at Waterloo.
The Indians improved to 10-7 overall and 9-3 in the Wamac West.
Columbus (1-17, 0-13) was led by Mitch Maiers with 12 points.
LINN-MAR 52, XAVIER 33 — Junior Marcus Paige scored 21 points as the Class 4A top-ranked Lions (16-0, 11-0 MVC) rolled to a big win at Xavier.
Ian McBrayer added 12 points for Linn-Mar. Mack Mattke scored 12 points to lead the Saints (4-12, 3-8).
IOWA CITY WEST 59, C.R. JEFFERSON 45 — Dondre Alexander scored 16 points to lead Iowa City West to a home Mississippi Valley Conference victory.
Jeremy Morgan added 13 points for the Trojans (11-4, 7-4 MVC).
Jefferson’s Jarrod Uthoff hit nine shots from the field and was a perfect 10-of-10 at the free-throw line to lead all players with 28 points. The Class 4A sixth-ranked J-Hawks are 12-3, 8-3.
IOWA CITY REGINA 69, WEST LIBERTY 46 — Iowa City Regina used a balanced scoring attack and drained nine 3-pointers en route to a Cedar Valley Conference win at home.
Dan Amelon led the Regals (13-6, 9-4 CVC) with 12 points and six rebounds, while Ross Westemeyer, George Sehl, and Jacoby Firkins added 10 points apiece.
Tyler Newsom scored a game-high 16 points to pace the Comets.
CEDAR VALLEY CHRISTIAN 59, CORNERSTONE CHRISTIAN (DEKALB, ILL.) 29 — Rob Landis scored 11 points for Cedar Valley in the second round of the NICC conference tournament being held at Cedar Valley Christian.
The Huskies will play in the title game today.
