KCRG 9.2 debuts live coverage of community sports

Starting Thursday February 3rd, KCRG 9.2 will begin an unprecedented commitment to LIVE, LOCAL events in Eastern Iowa. The channel plans to carry live broadcasts of events like: High School Sports, Concerts, and Community Theatre. Tonight’s broadcast will be of the Wrestling Duals at Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids.  Live coverage begins at 7:00pm.  Tomorrow night 9.2 will cover a live double-header of basketball from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids.

KCRG Broadcast Product Director Shannon Booth says the new commitment is obvious, ” We have an opportunity with KCRG 9.2 to provide LIVE coverage of events that matter to the community. It’s part of our commitment to grow with the community!”

The recent investment in a 40’ production truck allows KCRG 9.2 to reach out and cover events while companion station KCRG-TV9 continues to be the station of choice for local news and weather information.  The new production truck is state of the art and staffed by dedicated people from KCRG. “This truck allows us to take our production skills on the road and provide a service to the people of Eastern Iowa not normally seen. A complete list of current events scheduled to air on KCRG 9.2 can be found at KCRG.COM under the 9.2 tab,” said Kevin Schrader, Director Broadcast Technical Operations.

To request an event be covered on KCRG 9.2 simply send an email to: localevents@kcrg.com.
