CEDAR RAPIDS JEFFERSON 75, CLINTON 20 – Jarrod Utoff scored a game high 29 points and pulled down 10 rebounds last night to lead Cedar Rapids Jefferson to a 75-20 victory over Clinton in a season-opening boys’ basketball game in Cedar Rapids.
Clinton was scoreless in the third quarter, and Jefferson led 64-10 heading into the final periodAlec Saunders chipped in with 13 points for the J-Hawksw, Tyler Meiborg added 12.
CEDAR VALLEY CHRISTIAN 72, GALENA (ILL.) TRI-STATE CHRISTIAN 26 — Will Mulbach scored 14 points and pulled down nine boards off the bench to lead Cedar Valley Christian to a season-opening victory. Evan Koch added 10 points for the Huskies.
LISBON 58, WEST LIBERTY 57 — Jake Hendricks made two free throws with 12.5 seconds to play to lift Lisbon past West Liberty last night on the road.
Hendricks finished with a team-high 14 points for the Lions, while Jordan Bahl added 13 points and Ben Knake 12.
Jordan Myers led the Comets with a game-high 19 points.
DES MOINES LINCOLN 56, IOWA CITY HIGH 29 — Kippie Ward scored 14 points and Rashmid March added 13 as Des Moines Lincoln (1-0) stepped out of conference play and picked up a season-opening victory at Iowa City High last night.
Cortez Barfield led the Little Hawks (0-1) with nine points and five rebounds, while Jeremy Johnson added five points and six rebounds.
LINN-MAR 64, WAUKEE 52 — Linn-Mar led 42-38 after the three quarters and made 12 of 15 free throws in the fourth quarter to pull away in their season opener at Waukee. Marcus Paige led all scorers with 23 points and added six steals and four assists for the Lions (1-0).
Shane Benton had 11 points and Josh Montague added 13 points for Linn-Mar.
DAVENPORT WEST 74, CEDAR RAPIDS PRAIRIE 55 — Matt MacDougall scored 19 points, including two three-pointers in the loss on the road. Davenport West had 3 players score in double figures, paced by Nate Wells with 16, Demetrius Butler scored 14 and Patrick Natie 10.
