Cedar Rapids Xavier golfer Kimmy Askelson is expected to sign a National Letter of Intent on Thursday to play golf at Drake University in Des Moines.

Askelson became the first Xavier golfer to qualify for the state meet, placing fourth at the 2010 Class 4A state tournament at Ankeny’s Otter Creek Golf Course in June. She also helped the Saints to a 48-5 overall record, including a title at the Mississippi Valley Conference Super Meet last season.

According to Xavier athletics director Mike Winker, Askelson plans to major in marketing.
