6. IOWA CITY WEST (14-4)

Offensive average: 69.0. Defensive average: 45.9. Streak: Won 3. Last ranking: 6th. Notable: In what was supposed to be a rebuilding year (The Gazette picked them sixth in the division), the Women of Troy probably are going to finish second. Offensive average: 56.5. Defensive average: 50.1. Streak: Won 3. Last ranking: 9th. Notable: A couple of two-point wins over the Iowa City schools have propelled the Warriors on their three-game run. 2 Responses to Girls’ Super Ten, through Feb. 3

  1. Not sure if the Indians are worthy or not of the ranking…. They seem like a team that could trip up early or maybe even win it all, should be an interesting tournament in 3A

  2. Are you talking Marion or Waukon?

If you’re talking Waukon, those Indians probably are going to get a BIG break in the line pairings. If it all pans out the way logic would say, Waukon would only have to play ONE of what I would consider the three best teams in 3A (Heelan, Assumption and Ballard), and that wouldn’t be until the state final.

On the other hand, yes, they could get tripped early. Decorah first round will be tricky. Whoever they see in the regional final will be a challenge, and it really could be any of the four on that bottom side, though Maquoketa would be the least likely. They’d have to find an answer for DeWitt’s point guard; I think Halvorson and Keitel will be a good matchup inside.
