The Burlington High School girls basketball team opened the season with a 55-48 victory over 11th-ranked (Class 4A) Iowa City High Saturday in Iowa City.

A.J. Derby of Iowa City High (4A) and James Morris of Solon (2A) were seclected as the captains of their respective classes at the Iowa Newspaper Association all-state football meeting Sunday.
A pair of University of Iowa recruits, Derby and Morris led their respective teams to undefeated seasons and state championships last weekend at the UNI-Dome.
For Morris and Solon, it’s three consecutive titles and 41 straight victories.
