CEDAR FALLS — Solon’s Wes Sleeper will be able to get some much deserved R & R.
The Spartans quarterback battled through, not one but two, ACL injuries to help top-ranked Solon capture a third straight state title and extend its winning streak to 41 straight games.
Solon (14-0) scored 28 unanswered points to beat third-ranked Boyden Hull/Rock Valley, 38-7, in the Class 2A state football championship Saturday at the UNI-Dome.

CEDAR FALLS — How would they handle a close game? How would they respond?
The Solon Spartans responded like champions.
Three-time champions.
Pushed for a half like they hadn’t been pushed all season, the top-ranked Spartans finally knocked out No. 3 Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley with a series of second-half jabs to capture their third straight Class 2A football crown, 38-7, Saturday afternoon at the UNI-Dome.

CEDAR FALLS — It’s been a memorable year even if the ending was forgettable.
South Winn’s bid for its first state title ended with a 35-0 loss to No. 2 Council Bluffs St. Albert in the Class 1A state championship game Saturday at the UNI-Dome.
“We played hard. We had fun,” South Winn senior Jordan Andera said. “It’s disappointing it has to end this way, but that’s football. Someone has to win. Someone has to lose. I think we met up with a better team and that’s part of the game.”
