Scouting the Linn-Mar attack is easy. Stopping it is difficult.
Stokes collected 19 kills, Burkle added 13 and ninth-ranked Linn-Mar swept Cedar Rapids Prairie, 25-18, 25-12, 25-21, in a Class 4A regional semifinal volleyball match last night at Linn-Mar High School.
“We don’t do anything fancy. We keep it simple, and what we do, we do well,” said Lions Coach Rob Justis. “The other team knows where we’re going. We just try to run what we do well.”

Would you be interested in a round table discussion, featuring area coaches and other members of the wrestling community? Would you be willing to contribute questions and general subjects to be discussed by those involved in wrestling?
Would you like to see a preps-only version or one including both prep and college? Would monthly webcasts suffice? bi-weekly? Weekly?
I think it would be a perfect opportunity to enhance our current coverage. I’d love to hear your suggestions.

Cedar Rapids Washington running back Andre Dawson injured a knee during the Warriors’ substate win over North Scott at Kingston Stadium Wednesday night. There is no news as of yet about the severity of the injury, but it does bring up an important question: When do you sit an injured star player for his own benefit?
Dawson is certainly the “straw that stirs the Warriors’ drink” on offense, but they have other weapons, including Alex Carr, who ran for 225 yards against the Lancers.
Dawson has yet to commit to a college. …

IOWA CITY — Second verse was almost same as the first.
Iowa City High was playing a familiar tune for crosstown rival Iowa City West in their second installment of the Battle for the Boot this season.
Even though it wasn’t as dominant and West showed more fight, the top-ranked Little Hawks topped the Trojans, 45-20, in a Class 4A substate football game last night at City High.
