Orioles VS Prince of Peace, at Wheatland….Facing off  across the net from Prince Of Peace, the Orioles took the lead from the start of game one, and stayed on top for nearly all of the three game match.
Bolstered by sound defense,  the Orioles Offense stepped up to keep the team alive in Regional play.
Minus a starter due to illness, Springville once again filled that gap with Sophomore Alysha Dirks, who made the most of her time on the court, managing 6 kills and an important dig.  Katie Wyman had 9 kills, Maggie …

MARION — Logan Pickering and Jer Garman aren’t old acquaintances.
“I just contacted him on Facebook recently,” said Pickering, a senior at Marion High School. “I told him he was doing great, and to keep it up.”
They’re not familiar with each other. They’re both familiar with the end zone.
Linn-Mar’s Garman has scored 30 touchdowns this season, Pickering 27, and it has been happy Friday nights all around for the two Marion prep football teams.

The championship season hits full throttle Saturday as teams from across the state compete in regional swim action. State berths and regional championships are on the line. Diving portion will be held Thursday at the various sites, beginning at 5 p.m. and swimming events start at noon Saturday.
 The Cedar Rapids/Marion Metro hosts a regional at Cedar Rapids Washington. All but one of the Metro teams will battle it out with Fairfield, Tipton, Vinton-Shellsburg and Waterloo East. Cedar Rapids Kennedy has been the top team in the Metro, placing ahead of the rest …

Time & place: 7 p.m., at Clinton
Records: Prairie is 3-6; Clinton is 9-0.
Notable: Clinton is the champion of the Mississippi Athletic Conference and outscored its opposition by an average of 44.1-8.3. David Johnson rushed for 1,159 yards and 25 touchdowns. Prairie enters the postseason with five straight losses; the Hawks managed just 43 yards of offense last week against Cedar Rapids Xavier.
