Here are the pools for Saturday’s Westside Invitational volleyball tournament, hosted by Cedar Rapids Jefferson:
Pool A (at Jefferson): Mount Vernon, Cedar Rapids Xavier, Marion, Davenport West.
Pool B (at Jefferson): Cedar Rapids Kennedy, West Delaware, Williamsburg, West Liberty.
Pool C (at Jefferson): Dubuque Hempstead, Linn-Mar, Des Moines Roosevelt, Aplington-Parkersburg.
Pool D (at Washington): Iowa City West, Dubuque Wahlert, Waterloo Columbus, North Cedar.

Iowa City High is favored in both varsity races at the Mississippi Valley Conference “Super” cross country meet Thursday at the Ashton Cross Country Course in Iowa City.
The Little Hawks are ranked No. 2 in Class 4A in boys and girls. Iowa City West will challenge the girls, while Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids Prairie and Iowa City West are expected to chase the boys.
The schedule:
3:30 p.m. — fresh-soph girls
3:55 p.m. — fresh-soph boys
4:20 p.m. — JV girls
4:40 p.m. — JV boys
5:10 p.m. — varsity girls
5:35 p.m. — varsity boys

One-to-nothing high school softball games are about to become much less common.
The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has announced that the pitching rubber will be moved back 3 feet, to 43 feet, next summer.
In July, the National Federation of High Schools mandated the change, effective 2011, “to bring more offense to the high school level,” according to IGHSAU assistant director Joel Oswald.
Iowa is making the switch a year ahead of the mandate.
