For the first time in the event’s 18-year history, the Warrior Invitational is the Warriors’ invitational.
Cedar Rapids Washington captured its own tournament Saturday, defeating defending Class 3A state chanpion Marion in the finals, 25-22, 25-12.
Pool champions were Cedar Rapids Xavier, Washington, Linn-Mar and Marion. Johnston, which had won three of the last four titles here, is in consolation play today.

Local rugby has moved on without Ian Cullis and that’s perfectly fine with him.
Actually, he considers it a way to measure his impact on the game.
Cullis contribution was honored by his selection in the inaugural class of the Cedar Rapids Rugby Football Hall of Fame on Aug. 29.
