You Make the Call: Sept. 3

This is one feature that our downsizing took away. We’ll do it periodically online. You can post your answer in the Comments section. All questions are relating to NFHS and IHSAA rules. I’ll comment in the answer Friday or Saturday. If there’s any feedback, we’ll continue doing it.

Which of the following are legal methods of tackling a ball carrier?

a) a cross-body block at the knees from the front

b) a trip using the leg or foot

c) a cross-body block at the knees from behind and below the waist

d) grabbing the runner’s jersey where it is tucked into the runner’s pants and pulling

e) all of the above

f) none of the above

**Answer is E, all of the above. I checked with Bud Legg. Anything other than horse-collaring and face-masking is considered a legal tackle. Let the tripping begin!**
