Derek St. John is one of the more soft-spoken and unassuming wrestlers I have interviewed. He isn’t boisterous or obnoxious and his demeanor on the mat isn’t as emotional as some others.

DES MOINES — Forget about that all-Benton County matchup in the semifinals of the Class 3A state baseball tournament.
In fact, there won’t be any Benton County team at all playing in the next round.
That possibility ended when No. 7 seed Storm Lake stunned second-seeded Benton Community, 7-4, in a quarterfinal game Tuesday night. Benton County’s other entry, Vinton-Shellsburg, was ousted by Denison-Schleswig 4-3 in eight innings in the first game of the evening.
