Track and field »
For several summers now, I’ve spent 3 or 4 weekends traveling to USATF & AAU Track meets, as well as the Iowa Games. I suppose you have to be a true fan of the sport to make these trips because it means full days spent in the 9o plus days of Iowa sun.
This past weekend we hung around the track at an AAU Nationals qualifier in Pella at Central College, steaming on Saturday, and being windblown on Sunday.
Was it worth the time and the sunburn?
Probably. My daughter qualified for Nationals …

The Iowa High School Athletic Association’s football yearbook arrived in the mail today.
Last year, I think it came in September.

Rockford’s baseball game kept clawing away against a red hot St. Ansgar squad during Friday’s Corn Bowl Conference baseball game.
While the Warriors were right with the Class 2A No.2 Saints throughout much of the game, St. Ansgar strung together a late rally to ensure a comfortable 10-3 win over Rockford.
St. Ansgar steadily built a 6-0 lead through four and a half innings of play. The Saints scored one in the first, two in the second, two more in the third and one more in the fifth.
