Prep wrestlers from across the state will compete in the Junior National Duals at Oklahoma City, Okla., this week. Team Iowa begins action Wednesday in Greco-Roman, lasting until Friday morning. A freestyle tournament follows, starting Friday afternoon and ending Sunday.
Iowa was a runner-up last year. Determining a favorite is difficult because lineups and pools aren’t set until weigh-ins.

Stumbled across some entertaining videos at www.flowrestling.org of comedian Greg Warren, who was an All-American wrestler at 158 pounds in 1991 for the University of Missouri. Warren, a native of St. Louis, Mo., joins his comedic nature and his wrestling experiences (All are right on, by the way). These videos from flowrestling are great.
He’s been highlighted on various wrestling sites, like this Q&A with Intermat’s Andrew Hipps and this older article by the River Front Times.

Iowa City West sophomores Justin Koethe and Jack Hathaway were all-tournament selections at the Cadet National Duals June 18-21 at Rochester, Minn., helping Team Iowa place fourth in freestyle and sixth in Greco-Roman. Koethe posted a 15-1 record combined, going 7-0 to earn honors in Greco-Roman honors. Hathaway went 11-1 with a 6-0 record in freestyle and was a freestyle all-tournament team selection.
Below is an update from the Trojan Wrestling Club in Iowa City. Many Trojans have done well this spring.

In a year the girls’ 800-meter run became a stacked event in Iowa, an all-time state best was set.
Shelby Houlihan of Sioux City East finished third at the Nike Outdoor National track meet last week with a time of 2:07.35.
That eclipses the old mark of 2:07.39, set in 2006 by Blaire Dinsdale of North Tama.

Adam Feller’s pitching line made it appear he had a relatively easy evening.
The story on the field, though, showed just how hard the Comet lefthanded pitcher had to work.
Feller’s end result though turned out to be plenty good enough. The Comet senior allowed just one hit and one unearned run, walked four and struck out 12 as Class 3A No.4 Charles City rolled to a 12-1 five inning win over Crestwood Monday evening in Northeast Iowa Conference baseball action.
