Below is a press release from the Dan Gable International Wrestling Institute and Museum, noting a series of events scheduled for July 10-11.
 The events are the 10th Annual Celebrit Golf Tournament to benefit the Dan Gable International Wrestling Institute and Museum, a pro wrestling show at Young Arena featureing Harley Race’s World League Wrestling, induction ceremony to the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame and a banquet.

Below is an update from the Trojan Wrestling Club, highlighting results from the Northern Plains Kids/Cadet Regional held June 12-13 at Rockford, Ill.
NORTHERN PLAINS KIDS/CADET REGIONAL
Ten members of the Trojan Wrestling Club competed at the Northern Plains Kids/Cadet Regional in Rockford, Ill. In Greco Roman competition, Jack Hathaway, Phillip Laux, Gradey Gambrall, and Justin Koethe placed 2nd and Mickey Pelfrey placed 6th in the Cadet division. The Alliant Fifth Season Race reclaims a more traditional start this year, one year after flood recovery made officials alter the date and course of the annual running competition.
The race will be held July 4 and in downtown Cedar Rapids, returning after last year’s Labor Day race near Green Square Park. The competitions include an 8K run, 5K run and walk, youth mile run and kids’ fun run, beginning with the 8K at 7:30 a.m., followed by the 5k at 8, mile run at 9 and Kids’ Fun Run at …

WEST DES MOINES — Three local teams placed in the top seven of the Granny basketball state tournament June 13-14 at Valley High School.
The Late Bloomers had the best showing, placing third in the 11-team field competing as part of the Iowa Senior Olympics. The Cedar Rapids Sizzlers and the Center Point Model T’s placed fifth and seventh, respectively.
Jolene Ott and Jane Suiter, both of the Late Bloomers were selected to the All-tournament team.

BRANSON, Mo. — The members of Team S.T.R.I.K.E (Self-defense, Tae Kwon Do, Respect, Integrity, Knowledge and Excellence) won medals at the USSSA National Championships June 9-12.
Hamza Omar, a coach of the 2009 USSSA national team, won four medals, including golds in the men’s heavyweight black belt Olympic sparring and form. Omar added silver medals in weapons form and point sparring.
Alex Maltsev and Patrick Dimitani, also Team S.T.R.I.K.E. members, earned hardware. Maltsev won gold in form and men’s lightweight black belt point sparring with a silver in Olympic sparring and bronze …
