Kingston Stadium is going green.
Field Turf has been installed through three-quarters of the football field. There’s still much to be done (the surface is nowhere near spongy), but it’s starting to look like a field. A nice one.

He’s at it again.
John Begley is turning another softball team into a winner.
It might not approach the run he enjoyed at Solon, but Jesup is on a steep incline. Just two years after back-to-back 10-win seasons, the J-Hawks are 11-2.
“This is easily the most fun team to coach that I’ve ever had,” Begley said. “There’s not a spoiled kid in the bunch.”
Jesup was 10-28 in the final year before Begley’s arrival, then went 10-32 in his first year before jumping to 19-16 and winning the North Iowa Cedar …

Charles City’s bats came to the plate with the right approach late in game two of Tuesday’s Northeast Iowa Conference doubleheader with Waukon.
Jordon VanderWerf doubled to deep centerfield, then Tyler O’Brien followed with a home run to deep left center field, helping the Comets to a 7-4 win in game two and sweep of the twinbill at Sportsmen’s Park.
VanderWerf was on third when O’Brien launched the Waukon pitch deep into the mid-June evening.
