What’s the biggest in Eastern Iowa? Is it Mount Vernon vs. Solon? Or has it cooled since district football began and they became non-district foes?

Marcus Paige took an unofficial visit to the University of Iowa on Wednesday, and came home with a scholarship offer from the men’s basketball program.
“I’m pretty excited,” Paige said Thursday night. “I liked the coaching staff. It’s a great school. It’s the Big Ten.
“Of course I’ll consider (Iowa).”

The Charles City and Nashua-Plainfield trap shooting teams have remained busy over the past weeks.
On April 24, Charles City traveled to New Hampton, and took first and third place as a team, shooting 210 and 202. Comets also swept the individual honors. Cody Mercer was the top-finishing boy with a 47 and Suzanne Kueter was the top girl, hitting 42 birds.
On April 28, Charles City and N-P scrimmaged with New Hampton. The Comets again took first as a team, with a score of 229-of-250. Austin Hicks hit 49-of-50 …
