Let’s throw some names around and see if any of them make sense. Shall we?
CHRIS BONO:  Bono has been the head coach at Tennessee-Chattanooga. He was an assistant for Bobby Douglas and was instrumental in recruiting many of the upperclassmen in the program. He should be among the leading candidates to take over. He was a national champion for the Cyclones in 1996 and a three-time All-American. Sounds like he has showed interest in the Arizona State job as well. Would likely bring Nate Gallick with him.
KEVIN JACKSON:  The U.S. National …

Cael Sanderson stunned the college wrestling world.
In a fast-paced courtship accompanied by a whirlwind of speculation and an even more shocking conclusion, the chosen one for Iowa State wrestling chose to leave for another program.
Sanderson, who was hand-picked to lead the Cyclones, decided to leave Iowa State and accepted an offer to become the head wrestling coach at Penn State University. He replaces Troy Sunderland, who resigned April 4 after coaching the Nittany Lions for 11 seasons.

Mitch Mueller made a bold decision when he chose Iowa State over other suitors, but that was when Cael Sanderson was an assistant coach there. Eric Thompson was the top heavyweight recruit in the nation when he committed to wrestle for Sanderson and the Cyclones.
Both were stunned, like many in the wrestling world, when Sanderson accepted the head wrestling coach position at Penn State, leaving his alma mater to reaplce recently resigned coach Troy Sunderland.

No monetary details yet, and Penn State is notorious for being difficult with releasing those kinds of figures.

Former University of Iowa national champion and Penn State assistant wrestling coach Mark Perry shared his feelings on the hiring of Iowa State’s Cael Sanderson.
Perry, who just finished his first season as the second assistant for the Nittany Lions, found out the news earlier this afternoon. His take was particularly interesting. Sanderson, Penn State, and the abundance of prep talent out East could lead to a dynasty of sorts. Perry was very complimentary of Sanderson and his coaching ability. He even said that Iowa State would be able to rebound, noting …

STATEMENT FROM IOWA STATE A.D. JAMIE POLLARD
(Regarding Cael Sanderson’s departure to Penn State)
“Cael (Sanderson) shared with me today that he has accepted the head coaching position at Penn State. I am extremely saddened for our institution’s student-athletes, staff, alums and fans. It is a difficult day for all Cyclones as we cope with the departure of a truly outstanding and accomplished student and coach. Cael’s unblemished collegiate record, Olympic glory and promising start as a coach all came while he was representing Iowa State University and he will forever be …

This is a story about a professional baseball player who graduated from Cedar Rapids Xavier High School.
No, it’s not Oakland Athletics outfielder Ryan Sweeney. It’s not Zach Schreiber, Travis Sweet or Ryan Arp – all former Saints who have pro experience.
This is about Michael Harrington, the “unknown” former Xavier guy. The 23-year-old outfielder is playing for the Beloit Snappers in the Class A Midwest League, who just finished a series against the Cedar Rapids Kernels.

“It’s the first time I’d been back since either my freshman or sophomore year in college,” Harrington said. …
