CEDAR RAPIDS — According to Dennis Roloff, Kyle Slaymaker “loves to compete and hates to lose.
“Pretty good combination, huh?”
Pretty good runner.
Slaymaker picked up two victories at the John Ask Relays boys’ track Saturday afternoon at Saints Field, anchoring Cedar Rapids Kennedy to the 3,200-meter relay title and capturing the 200 solo event.

CEDAR RAPIDS — We’ve got somewhat of a mess here.
According to Paul James, Cedar Rapids Washington AD and John Ask Relays substitute meet director, the two computers necessary to obtain results “aren’t talking to each other.”
So we might be without times, distances and team results.
Here’s what we do know:
Lewi Manirumva of Cedar Rapids Washington won his 3,200-meter showdown with Iowa City West’s Frank Canady. Manirumva was timed, unofficially in about 9:33. He broke Canady with about 800 meters to go.

Dubuque Wahlert won the Xavier girls track Invitational friday night with 125 points. Benton Community was second with 97 points and Cedar Falls and Dubuque Senior tied for third with 81. Wahlert won the 4×400 and 4×800 relays. The 4X800 team of Klosterman, Leytem, Kalb and Perry won with a time of 10:01.
