MANCHESTER — The Independence wrestling team had one blemish on its record and that provided enough motivation to keep the Mustangs from passing up a chance for revenge.

MARION — Linn-Mar all-stater Zach Bohanon is starting to take over games and all that remains to be seen now is how far that will take the Lions.
Bohannon, a 6-foot-7 senior, scored a career high 40 points on the heels of a 35-point performance his last time out, and Class 4A second-ranked Linn-Mar fought off Cedar Rapids Jefferson, 62-56, in a not-always pretty Mississippi Valley Conference game last night at Linn-Mar.

The MVC Mississippi Division race is turning into a game of hot potato.
Nobody can gain a firm handle on it.

That cuts the cast of co-leaders to two — Cedar Rapids Kennedy (14-4 overall) and Dubuque Wahlert (14-5 overall) are 10-4 in the MVC. Both have stiff challenges tonight: Kennedy travels to surging Waterloo West while Wahlert hosts Iowa City High (14-5, 9-5), which still has title hopes if it …

West Liberty-Back in the early 1960’s new basketball uniforms arrived for the West Liberty girls basketball team, the Comettes.
There was, however, a problem. The uniforms said Belles. The coach at that time, unbeknownst to the principal, told the company to put that nickname on the uniforms.
There was much discussion and finally the student body voted to keep the Belles nickname for the girls’ teams.
Now, some 45 …
