The calendar has been turned to February, and two weeks remain in the girls’ basketball regular season. Precious few games remain before the postseason begins. A few league championships are secure. A few still hang in the balance. Here’s a primer on the stretch run:

SPRINGVILLE — This time, Goliath took the slingshot and snapped it across his knee.
Class 4A fifth-ranked Cedar Rapids Kennedy owned the boards, dominated the second half and ended 1A No. 1 Springville’s 30-game winning streak, 61-43, in a girls’ basketball game last night at Springville High School.
“This was a huge game for us,” said Kennedy’s Jade Rogers, who scorched the Orioles for 22 points, 12 rebounds and six steals. “We were aware of their streak, and it was an intense atmosphere.”
Kennedy has an enrollment of 1,376 students …

MARION — The expectations are so high for the Iowa City West wrestling team that Saturday’s performance was met with mixed reactions.
Sure, the Trojans defended their Mississippi Valley Conference team title and placed all 14 wrestlers. And don’t forget the six champions among seven finalists. But somehow that felt a little short of West’s own expectations.
Class 3A second-ranked West scored 266 1/2 points to win its sixth straight conference tournament team title Saturday at Linn-Mar High School. The Trojans outscored runner-up Cedar Rapids Prairie by 66 1/2 …
